Create RSS Feeds for Your Website

How to Create RSS Feed for your Website?

You can add RSS Feed to your website easily with the help of Google Reader and Feedburner – Live Video Tutorial

Take my website for example, weekly I am updating my website as well my blogs content but now I desperately want to have an RSS feed for this website so that my visitors can automatically know when I publish a new content or when there is a new promotion or any new announcement running on my site.

Good idea, but I have no clue about RSS feeds or how to create a XML file exclusively for RSS feed.

After 6 months I found out one great way to insert RSS Feed file for my website.  Yes with the help of Google Reader you can create your RSS feed within 10 minutes without any difficulties and another thing it is totally free of cost.

How to Add RSS Feed to your Website – Step by Step Tutorial

Let starts this RSS tutorial…

Step 1 : Login to your Google Reader account and drag n drop the note in reader link button from the Google Reader web page into the bookmarks toolbar of your web browser.  You better use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browser for RSS Feeds.  These browsers support you to the great extent.  After login Google Reader you just see the Notes link left side of the Google Reader Navigation bar. You just click that Notes, then right hand side of your screen you see the Note in Reader – Drag Me button. You just drag that Note in Reader to your web browser.

Step 2 : Now you open one web page after web page of your website in the web browser – another thing you only need to open pages that are to be included in the RSS Feed File.  So don’t open About us, Contact us, Feed back pages and Disclaimer pages.  You can skip these pages.

Step 3 : For each web page you select some relevant content with headings (to be post on RSS Feed File) don’t select (irrelevant content, you tube videos and navigation bars) now just click the Note in Reader Button on your browser with your mouse.

Step 4 : A pop-up dialog box will open in your web browser as shown in the video.  Click add tags and assign some tag to this page (I use way2onlinejobs) for this example.  Close the browser tab and repeat the same process for all other pages of your site – make sure your assign the same tag to each page correctly.

Step 5 : Now go to Google Reader Settings —-> Folders and Tags and click that gray RSS icon next to the tag way2onlinejobs to make it public.  You’ll then see a new link that says view public page – copy the URL of that page to the clip board.

We are almost done now.

Then, go to Feed Burner, paste the URL in that feed box, click Next and give your RSS Feed some nice title and an address.

You can also subscribe to your new RSS Feed address in Blog lines or Google Reader or Yahoo to see if things are working as expected – they should.

Later, when you add new pages or new content to your website, you can easily distribute them via the RSS feed by just repeating Step 3 and Step 4.

You may also add the following line of code to your HTML web pages like this as.  I have done for my website.

<link rel=”alternate” type=”application/rss+xml” title=”RSS”

href=”http://feeds.feedburner.com/wy2onlinejobs”>

<link rel=”alternate” type=”application/atom+xml” title=”ATOM”

href=”http://feeds.feedburner.com/wy2onlinejobs”>

After inserting the above two lines in your HTML tags you will see RSS logo appear on you web browser in the address bar.  Now you can see my RSS tutorial You Tube Video.

  1. I’ve been browsing on-line memorableer than 3 hours these days, yet I never understanded any attention-grabbing article like yours. It is beautiful worth enough for me. Personally, if all page owners and bloggers made good content material as you probably did, the net will be plenty more useful than before.
